Title: Functional Neuroanatomy Atlas, v.2.0
Description: This interactive neuroanatomy atlas features a selected list of the most clinically relevant neuroanatomical structures with descriptions of their functions. The majority of images in the program are MR generated to familiarize the student with media that they will encounter in the clinic. Surface features are illustrated, and cross sections of spinal cord and brainstem were generated from whole slices. All of the images have a "vascular territories" overlay accessed by toggle switch, so that the user is able to correlate neural functions with vascular anatomy to facilitate understanding of stroke syndromes. A self-quiz facility is designed as a teaching tool in that the correct answer is supplied immediately if the user provides an incorrect answer, or clicks the "I give up" button. 3-D movies enhance understanding of deep structures in the brain, and animations teach the major sensory and motor pathways. The functional definitions are available as both text and audio, to facilitate learning in auditory learners and the vision impaired. Colored overlays are visible to color-blind users. *This link leads to a Web page where the install program (130 MB) is available. When installed the uncompressed files occupy 180 MB hard disk space. Note: this is an EXE file which cannot be downloaded to a Mac.
